Swisstrade is delighted to announce that our team is participating in the Push-Up Challenge this June to push for better mental health. From 1-25 June, our team will attempt to complete over 13,000 push-ups to help raise awareness of the increasing number of Australians dying by suicide and to support the Push For Better Foundation, Lifeline and Movember.
With an estimated one in five Australians aged 16-85 experiencing mental health issues each year (ABS 2008), and nine Australians dying each day by suicide (Lifeline), it is imperative that conversations take place with friends, family, in the workplace and at schools about mental and physical health and how we can help others and ourselves improve overall wellbeing.
In the hotel and hospitality industry, the recent pandemic has increased the level of mental health issues with a report by HospoVoice revealing that 91% of hospitality workers are worried about mental health in the industry.
"In the fast-paced world of hotels, we are often so focused on caring for the guest that we forget to prioritise our own wellbeing and self-care. By participating in the Push-Up Challenge, we hope to help shine a light on the importance of mental health, raising awareness and funds to support critical mental health services across Australia, while actively boosting the wellbeing of our own team through this fun, active initiative," says Peter Weingartner, Principal of Swisstrade.
Swisstrade encourages others to get involved in the challenge by registering for free online or by making a donation to support critical mental health services and charities in Australia.
